Thomas Kinkade dies…

Thomas Kinkade dies. Charming snow covered roof to blame.

Thomas Kinkade dies. Leaving all his money to a picturesque dirt path in a forest.

Thomas Kinkade dies. All scenic light houses have their flags at half-mast in his honor.

State of The PIT 2012

thepit-nyc:

Dear PITizens, friends of the PIT & comedy world at large,

I hope this finds you and yours happy and healthy. I have tried to write a State of the PIT letter yearly since we opened. Last year I was remiss, and did not write one, although, I have heard that “success comes to those who are too busy to look for it.” In 2010, we were very busy around the holiday season when I normally would have written this and as 2011 arrived we were even busier trying to gain our footing at our new space at 123 East 24th Street. We were in the process of moving from our 2,000 square foot theater we’d had for eight years to our new 10,000 square foot multiple performance space with full bar and coffee shop. It was a challenging time - in one full day, we moved everything across town from West 29th Street to East 24th Street with the help of countless PITizens.

In the past two years since I last wrote, we have been incredibly lucky and successful, for which we are humbled. The word of mouth has taken us to a place we could not have imagined nine years ago, due in large part to our Classes Department and our instructors, who love teaching for the right reasons. We were voted “Best Improv Lessons” by New York magazine when we first opened and we strive to uphold that honor day in and day out. We humbly believe we have one of the best comedy schools in the world, thanks to our teachers and students. Our school has grown so much that we now have thousands of students taking classes at any given time. Last year we offered over 300 courses. We continue to be a theater school that strives to promise less and deliver more.

Hooray!

2012

Since December I’ve been performing at the PIT once a month with Upset Triangle. January we performed at Chicago Sketchfest.

In February, we had a wonderful show with some great guests. This month we had a great themed show that sold out.

In April, we’re performing at the Laughing Skull in Queens and I’m submitting a pilot script I wrote to a competition and auditioning for a PIT house sketch team. No PIT shows, which is sad.

In May, we’re going to have another big show at the PIT on Pat’s Birthday. We’re going back to our roots for that show. Lots of crazy characters.

In June, we’re having another themed sketch show. Theme is either Jurassic Park or John Carpenter. I’ve also tried doing some stand up and one-man bits the last two months and that’s been really interesting to experiment with. I’m hoping to do a one-man show by the end of the year. Am I busy? I guess it looks like I have been. Do I feel like I’ve done enough? Nope.

Life is flying by.

where can I watch more fantasy metal? I'm a big fan thus far.

Hi,

I’m glad you enjoy Fantasy Metal! Right now it’s only 3 episodes long. We got voted out of Channel 101 so we aren’t making anymore episodes for them. We may or may not do a live show as the characters in the near future or if a website or company gets behind it we’ll continue making more.
